100 Women Who Care was started in November 2006 by Karen Dunigan of Jackson, Michigan, as a brilliantly simply way to raise money local charities. At their first meeting, 100 women raised $10,000 to buy 300 new cribs for an organization in their city. There are now about 900 100 Women Who Care chapters established or forming worldwide.
We try to keep the meetings to an hour. Members are welcomed at the venue, and the agenda typically follows this format:
Introductory remarks
Presentation from the charity awarded the major donation at the last meeting
Brief 5 minute presentation from each of the three nominated charities followed by a brief Q&A
A special guest speaker
Reminder of how to vote, acknowledgements and any other community announcements
Member voting will take place once the meeting is over.
The charity with the most votes will be communicated to the members through email and social media 3-4 days after the event.
You sure can! Joining with a Team allows you to split the cost and time commitment, while creating community with coworkers, friends, and like-minded peers.
To sign up as a Team, each Member must complete a Membership Commitment Form. Teams may be comprised of 2-4 people.
As a Team, you are allowed just one vote at each event, but everyone is welcome to attend. Teams are also welcome to fill out our Charity Nomination Form.

Absolutely! One charity will receive the major award, and the two other presenting charities will receive smaller awards. Regardless of who you voted for, you will receive a tax donation from one of the three charities. Tax receipts will be issued directly from the charity to the donor. Charities generally issue receipts by the end of February each year.
Not a problem. Send your donation by e-transfer to TorontoWest100@gmail.com (password not required).
Our goal is to make a larger donation on behalf of the whole group. This is the power of individuals united for a cause! We also need to be able to track your donations so that you get credit for the donation and remain an active, voting-eligible Member of the group.
None of it! 100 Women Who Care Toronto West is organized and operated by a volunteer team. Everything else has been given to us by generous donors in our community. 100% of the money raised at our meetings goes directly to the selected charity.
Meetings are intended to be brief so we try to wrap things up within 60 minutes. Members are invited to stay and socialize after the meeting.
Absolutely! We are always seeking philanthropic people to contribute their energy to the group.
In order to vote, the friend would need to join our organization by completing the Membership Commitment Form. Guests are welcome to observe and contribute a donation.
We collect members’ information strictly for the purpose of maintaining our membership list and assisting charitable organizations with issuing tax receipts.
